They scored how many?

Central Districts pair Natalie Dodd and Anlo van Deventer put on 328 for the second wicket in a one-day game against the Otago Sparks in Palmerston North yesterday.

Let's say that again, slowly. Three hundred and twenty eight.

It was the highest partnership in the history of both the men's and women's one-day competitions.

Incredibly, the previous mark of 308 was posted on Saturday by Northern Districts pair Kate Anderson (160 not out) and Felicity Leydon-Davis (131 not out).

Who would have thought that massive partnership record would last just 24 hours.

Dodd was run out off the last ball of the innings and ended up with a career-high 142. Van Deventer was undefeated on 169.

She whacked 27 boundaries in her extraordinary knock, powering Central to 339 for two.

It was just her second hundred in the format and completed a very good weekend for the right-hander. She scored 51 not out at Fitzherbert Park on Saturday to help her side defeat the Sparks by nine wickets.

The Sparks went into the doubleheader missing White Ferns trio Suzie Bates, Katey Martin and Leigh Kasperek.

Bates and Martin have carried the Sparks batting for more than a decade and without them the visitors struggled.

The target of 340 proved well, well out of reach. The visitors were bundled out for 92 thanks to Mikaela Greig's five for 15.

The 247-run loss was the Sparks' third heaviest loss by number of runs.

On Saturday, the Sparks batted first and could only muster 116. Emma Black and Bella James top-scored with 36 apiece.

Dodd (44 not out) and Deventer steered their team to victory with nine wickets and almost 30 overs to spare.

In the other games, Northern Districts and Canterbury shared the honours with a win apiece, while Auckland and Wellington also split the spoils.

Central's two big wins elevated it to the top of the standings. It will host Auckland in the final on Saturday.

Wellington was third with Otago fourth. Canterbury and Northern Districts rounded out the final two places.
