Dominic Crombie bowls for the Students XI during the Students For A Cause cricket match at Logan Park on Sunday.

The match was played between ateam of students and an Invitational XI from Dunedin club cricket. Included in the teams were the likes ofLlew Johnson and Ben Lockrose, who brought Otago Volts experience.

Senior grade cricketers Ryan Whelan and Fergus Ellis turned out for the students.

The match was a fundraiser for the Cricket Live Foundation. A New Zealand non-profit business, it uses cricket as a vehicle to develop life skills and education for children in marginalised communities in India and Sri Lanka, as well as providing pathways for their future.

The game went right down to the wire.

The Students XI made 200 and the Invitational XI matched it but could only get 200. In the super over the Students XI made just nine but managed to defend it.

Will St John bowled the super over for the students and did the damage. More than $3000 was raised for the Cricket Live Foundation.
