Kaikorai 375 for nine beat
North East Valley 368 by seven runs
How often are there 743 runs scored in a day of club cricket in Dunedin? Not very often is a pretty safe answer. Just last week a senior team was bowled out for a woeful 36 runs.
But Logan Park hosted an absolute run festival with Kaikorai smashing 375 for nine and North East Valley replying with 368.
Kaikorai’s Jordan Gain creamed 108 from 89 balls. Ben Donkers slammed six sixes and eight fours in his knock of 98. Josh Bates thumped 57 from 46 and opener Rhys Bayly set the tone with a brutal innings of 48 from 31 balls. He scored 11 fours in that innings. But batting was just as easy for North East Valley with Will Kindley getting the chase off to a rapid start with 55 from 30.
Tom Griffin continued the onslaught with 45 from 36, Robbie Tallott added 84 from 87 and Jamie Murley pasted 58 from 56.
There were some hard-hitting cameos from Matthew Thornton (29 from 15) and David Spencer (32 from 19) as well.
But among the carnage, Lachie Robertson grabbed five for 57 to help dismiss North East Valley and clinched a dramatic seven-run win.
Taieri 128 lost to Green Island
129 for four by six wickets
Green Island all-rounder Geordie Scott took four for 17 to help dismiss Taieri for a modest total of 128 at Brooklands Park.
While it was always unlikely to be a competitive total, it was a vast improvement on the 36 the team managed last week.
Jarryd Taig anchored the innings with 46 but the only other players to get past single figures were Sam Butler (18) and Regan Flaws (11).
Nathan Watt took three for 21 to team up with Scott in cutting through the feeble resistance.
The chase came to an end in the 33rd over with Green Island four down.
Scott Simpson (32) and Watt (35) put on 77 for the first wicket. Flaws bowled well for Taieri with three for 31, and Elliot Love was frugal with none for 29 from 10 overs.
Carisbrook-Dunedin 124 lost
to Albion 127 for five by five wickets
Carisbrook-Dunedin slumped to its fourth loss with a below-par batting effort at Tonga Park.
The home side could only muster 124. Seamer Dexter Marsh grabbed four for 21 from 4.4 overs and Nathan Shanks and Daniel Duke picked up three apiece.
Kieran Eathorne top-scored for Carisbrook-Dunedin with 31, while Richard Sillars (19), Kane McKay (17), Sam Angus (18) and Kurt Johnston (11) all got starts.
Albion lost early wickets but Felix Page was resolute with an unbeaten 55 from 74 deliveries and guided his side to a five-wicket win. Tim Ford provided some support with 19, while Sillars was the pick of the Carisbrook-Dunedin bowlers with three wickets.
