All football has been postponed until the end of next month as the brakes continue to go on the winter codes.
New Zealand Football and its seven federations announced late on Thursday the community football postponement has been extended until at least Queen’s Birthday Weekend, which is May 30, because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"With the country still in Alert Level 4, the extended postponement gives the football community new guidance on when NZF aims to resume play, providing it’s safe to do so," the statement said.
The suspension includes all community football, which covers junior, youth, senior and social competitions.
All futsal has also been suspended, while all national futsal tournaments which were scheduled in June and July have been cancelled, including the youth futsal championships.
All other national tournaments are under review.
Workshops and courses are also postponed, although these may be done online.
Football clubs are still taking registrations for the 2020 season, so there is still hope of playing.
Most winter codes have put their sport on ice. When winter sport starts again this year, if at all, is up in the air and depends largely on the level of lockdown in force.
