Chisholm Park is without a professional as it works through its future needs.

Chisholm Park professional Allan Court has moved on, club president Matt Heaton saying the club and Court had mutually agreed to part ways.

Heaton said the club was now looking at its options.

Court had a contract with the club which was due to finish in March next year so it had finished six months earlier, Heaton said.

"We are just addressing what we really want to do. He [Court] was running and working as an independent business outside the club," Heaton said.

The club was looking to bring the role of the professional back within the club but was taking a wait-and-see attitude to what was needed.

"We want it to be the right person for the golf club and not rush into things."

Court has been investigated by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment over three companies of which he was the director.

The companies were linked with a British businessman who had defrauded the United Kingdom’s tax department of about £55 million ($107 million).

Court had listed the golf club’s address as the mailing address of the three companies.

Heaton said the club had discussed the issue with Court and was concerned the golf club’s address had been used as a mailing address.

Heaton said the club asked Court to remove the golf club’s address with the companies office.

Court could not be contacted yesterday.

Heaton said the club had picked up new members as golf grew in popularity after lockdown as people got out and exercised and wanted to get back into the game.

Twilight competitions were also drawing in players.

The club had laid off two greenkeepers earlier this year and now had a contractor, along with volunteers, looking after the course.

Heaton said the course was in good condition. Some work had been carried out on the greens and, although this may give the greens an initial rougher appearance, the greens would be better in the longer term.
