New Zealand’s Ryan Fox plays his second shot on the 15th hole on day one of the Australian PGA Championship 2025 at Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane yesterday.

Fox, China's Wenyi Ding, Finland's Tapio Pulkkanen and Anthony Quayle, who had star caddie Steve Williams on his bag, had earlier shared the clubhouse lead at 4-under (67).

But Spaniard Sebastian Garcia blew past them, taking his famous golfing surname to the top by going 7-under through 15 holes before electrical storms arrived to cut off his charge.

Australian Daniel Gale had made his way to 5-under after 12 holes before he too had to run for cover, while Colombia’s Sebastian Munoz and New South Welshman Nathan Barbieri had joined Fox and company at 4-under after 14 and eight holes respectively.
