A thunderstorm with incessant rain caused the postponement of the Infinity Wanaka men's championship which was to be played over two rounds on Saturday.
The Wanaka course remained closed yesterday as several areas of the course were flooded.
The club hopes to reschedule the event for some date in October but it will not carry the same weight as an Otago trial as the first team of the season will already be selected.
That team of 10 players will compete against Aorangi and Southland in senior, masters (over-40) and under-21 levels at Balmacewen during the first weekend of October.
This leaves only two more opportunities for Otago's top players to impress the selection panel and make the final 10.
The first is the North Otago Spring Open which will be played over 72 holes on the Oamaru course next weekend.
The final chance will be in the Taieri Classic at the end of the month, after which all teams will be named.
There is keen interest in making teams this year as the national interprovincial tournament will be played on the Balmacewen course in Dunedin from November 27 to December 1.
