Dunedin premier club netball resumed after the holiday break at the weekend, with round three matches on Saturday and Sunday at the Edgar Centre.

PhysEd Phedex had contrasting fortunes, with a 88-39 hammering by Southern A on Saturday followed by a 68-50 win over newly promoted College A yesterday.

In Saturday's match against Southern, PhysEd Phedex could only watch as Southern piled on the points.

With quarter scores of 20-13, 22-10, 21-8 and 25-8, the game was never in doubt.

Southern backed this stunning performance up with another win yesterday, this time 61-40 against Phys Ed A, and looks like a title contender if it can continue this form.

College A had a hard weekend, starting with a 62-40 pasting by Uni Albion A and culminating in its loss to PhysEd Physdex.

In yesterday's match, PhysEd Phedex fielded one of its best teams of the season, including Lizzie Sandom (goal shoot), evergreen player Trudy Marsh (wing attack), Debbie Hill (centre) and Hannah Borderlow (goal defence).

With the ever-changing nature of the PhysEd Phedex line-up it is hard for other teams to fully prepare against it, which may explain why College took time settling in the first quarter and trailed 23-11 at the break.

The result never looked in doubt.

Borderlow's strong performance on defence was matched by her strong drive on attack, which often found her linking up with Hill through some long passes out of the defence end.

Sandom's sharp shooting (49 goals from 54 attempts) ensured any ball she got was slotted sweetly through the net.

At halftime the score was 41-22.

With the damage done in the first half, Phedex relaxed its tempo, allowing College to edge its rival 28-27 in the second half.

Uni Albion A rounded off its success on Saturday with a 72-36 win over Southern B yesterday to ensure it is not overlooked as a title challenger.
