The 30th annual Kittyhawk mixed fours charity tournament is on again on Sunday.
A record-equalling field of 42 four-bowler teams will gather at the Taieri and Fairfield greens for a day of competitive action and fundraising.
Organiser Ken Walker said all 168 bowlers would receive a commemorative etched wine glass to thank them for their support.
Each team will play five games, either of eight ends or an even 60 minutes, so the tournament can start at 9.30am and finish at 4pm.
Walker said the tournament had attracted a balanced field with an emphasis on enjoyment.
While there were no clear favourites for the title, defending champion Bruce Boothby and Bob Sanders usually had strong teams.
Walker maintains the Kittyhawk tournament is the best charity bowls event in New Zealand.
It has raised $208,000 in its time for local charities, and is partnering with Camp Quality South, helping children living with cancer, for an 18th consecutive year.
At least $13,500, from entry fees, donations and auctions, will be donated to the charity this year.
Kittyhawk was established to promote the sport of lawn bowls in Otago, to develop younger bowlers and to raise funds for charity.
