Triathlon: Dodds, Samuels named in Rio team

Wanaka athletes Tony Dodds and Nicky Samuels have been named in the New Zealand triathlon team for the Rio Olympics.

Dodds and Samuels were named in a four-strong squad at an announcement at Olympic House in Auckland this morning.

They will join Andrea Hewitt and Ryan Sissons in the New Zealand squad.

Dodds finished 28th in his most recent outing in Yokohama this month but showed strong form in the first half of last year and has convinced the selectors he is on track to peak in Brazil with some solid displays recently.

Like Samuels, he is battling to regain his best form after suffering an injury last year.

Samuels was one of New Zealand's leading athletes in 2014 but has struggled in her comeback from hip and knee injuries and did not finish the Yokohama race.
