Oamaru reinsman Matthew Williamson probably does not need another brother.
He has got two and they are talented trainers and drivers.
However, the Oamaru Harness Racing Club has assigned him a third just for tomorrow.
Williamson and Ricky May will compete in a wild-card pairing in the Brothers In Arms driving series at Oamaru. They will take on five sets of brothers including Williamson's actual siblings, Nathan and Brad.
"It's a pretty fair sort of trade up from two brothers I have got," Matthew said.
"It should be a bit of fun out there and hopefully we can get a few points and beat Nathan and Brad."
The third heat of the series, race 6, crosses all sorts of family lines.
Matthew will attempt to score maximum points for his team behind Triroyale Brigade, who is trained by Nathan.
"He has got a nice draw and is a sit-sprint type so hopefully he can get a good run and get over top of them," Matthew said
In the same race, Nathan will drive the Denis O'Connell-trained Aveross Ferrari, and May drives Alexy, a stablemate of Aveross Ferrari, for the wild-card team.
Alexy would be a genuine each-way chance if he got back to his best.
The Williamson-May team looks to have contrasting chances in the first heat of the series, race 4.
Williamson steers the Mark Jones-trained Michelle, who was not on her best behaviour at Forbury Park last night.
"Manners are going to be the key with her. If she can trot away she would have it over most of the field."
May is behind an outsider in Noble Gamble.
Benjamin and Zachary Butcher look well placed to take maximum points in the first heat.
Benjamin drives Moniburns, who has performed well in two starts back from a spell.
Zachary is behind the consistent Such Fun.
In heat two (race 5), Williamson will again drive a horse backing up from last night's meeting in Hot Starff.
"She is drawn 1 on the second row so she will be in behind them doing no work. Hopefully she should be finishing over most of them."
May has drawn a rank outsider in Hedonist Franco.
The Butcher brothers are also nicely placed to score points in the second heat. Benjamin drives rugged pacer Matinee Idol and Zachary drives each-way hope Passion Flower.
Williamson has again drawn a tidy chance in the fourth heat of the competition (race 7).
Sea Rover looks a winning hope despite not being at his best in his two runs this campaign.
"He is such a good beginner and with it being a 2000m stand, this race really suits him."
May is aboard Take After Me, who is capable on his day.
Benjamin Butcher could score more points in heat four with the handy Astound.
Clark Barron's drive, Whatasista, should pick up points for his team with brother, Ken.
Williamson drives Bettor Enforce for trainer Allan Beck in the final heat (race 8)
"It is a big of a drop back in grade for her so I would think she would be a decent chance." The tricky draw was the concern.
May is on an outside hope in Boomer Bailey.
Nathan Williamson should gain points in the final heat with Pembrook Legacy.
