The jockey has been invited north by Auckland Racing Club officials following his snubbing from a team of up-and-coming riders for an invitational series there in December.
Campbell's omission from the team caused a stir in racing circles across New Zealand, as he was leading the national apprentice's premiership at the time.
He heads north sitting in second place on the national ranking, two wins behind leader Ryan Elliot.
Campbell went down to second place after injury ruled him out of riding for much of January and February.
The 17-year-old said he was looking forward to riding on the country's premier racetrack.
"From what I have heard it is quite an up and down track.
"I have talked to a few jockeys and they say it is quite a nice track to ride."
Campbell has two rides at today's meeting.
Former South Island galloper Retallick looks the best of them.
The 5yr-old will have his first start for Whangarei trainer Donna Clark in race 6 over 1200m.
Campbell said the horse's form in the South Island suggested he would be a handy chance.
"I have had a look at his form and he had good form down here, he had been running behind Don Carlo and Starvoia and they are no slouches."
Campbell also rides Clapathunda in race 8.
The southerner will need to produce a magical ride to get the hurdler home.
Campbell will return south to ride at Ascot Park tomorrow.
There, he rides the top-weight, Irish Excuse, in the meeting's 1200m open handicap.
The Ascot Park track has been rated slow this week, and if it were to stay that way by race start time the Ellis Winsloe-trained veteran would relish it.
"I am very much looking forward to riding him again.
"He should be hard to beat, especially with the rain they have had down there.
"And he had that run at Gore the other day, so he should strip fitter for Sunday."
Campbell said Peshawar in race 7 was his best ride at the meeting.
The galloper, who is also trained by Winsloe, does not have strong form, but Campbell has been impressed with the horse's recent jumpout efforts.
"He has had a few good jumpouts down there, and his races haven't been too bad.
"I am just hoping he gets a bit of luck this week."
