Harvey will partner his trotter Guadeloupe, who has his first start in race 2.
Harvey, who has continued to drive at trials, had his last race drive on the trotter Corsica Appeal, who was unplaced at Gore in March 1997.
"I've only driven two of my trotters and they both won for me, so I hope the run continues tomorrow," Harvey said.
"I drove Chin Wag to win.
"He is a three-quarter brother to Guadeloupe," Harvey said.
The last horse he had to the races was OK Reilly in 2002.
He had one start for Harvey before being passed to Laurence Hanrahan.
He won 20 races in America.
Guadeloupe is a 4yr-old gelding by Monarchy from Canya Catchme, an unraced daughter of Pernod Eden and Adel Star.
Guadeloupe qualified at Oamaru a year ago.
He won a trial at Forbury Park on March 24.
"He got caught up in a fence when he was a few days old and ended up with a large lump on a hind fetlock.
"He wears out the shoes on that leg twice as fast as the others, as he tends to stab the foot down," Harvey said.
"Some days it affects him but generally he seems OK."
"I think he should give a good account at Oamaru."
Harvey also has Laila A Lee having her first start in the final race today.
The 5yr-old daughter of Jeremys Gambit is the third foal of Meika Lee, who won five races for Harvey in the mid-1990s.
Harvey trained the daughter of Vance Hanover and Ameoba for three of those wins and Derek Jones two.
Jones prepared Ameoba for one of her four wins and Harvey the other three.
Harvey met splendid success with the pacer Tax Credit in the late 1980s.
The son of Sir Dalrae and Taxi Dancer won 15 races and recorded nine placings for stakes of $248,835 before being sold to America where he won another 20 races.
Harvey prepared the gelding for his first six wins and drove him in his first win at Wyndham in 1987.
Roy and Barry Purdon trained him for his nine other wins.
The late Derek Jones was the trainer when he finished second to Race Ruler in the 1987 Great Northern Derby at Alexandra Park.
Harvey (65), who has been breeding and racing horses with his wife, Pat, at Kuri Bush for 21 years, says the trotting takes second place to farming.
The couple run sheep and beef cattle on their 700 acres.
Five years ago, Harvey "updated" his old colours of black, blue and gold.
They were "replaced" with white, lime green sleeves, a black H, rugby ball and a bottle on the sleeves.
Colin takes up the story.
"The kids decided I needed to update the colours.
"Unbeknown to me they applied for the "rugby racing and beer" design.
"The old-timers said you should never change your colours or you will never win another race."
Maybe today the new colours will be carried to success in a race for the first time.
