Only three of the trainer's nine starters at Saturday's meeting have drawn on the inside half of the front line, but Larsen has been around harness racing long enough to know the draw is not the be-all and end-all.
One horse who has drawn well is Risk Factor (race 9), who picked up a well-earned maiden win at Gore last month.
The well-bred 3yr-old will start from barrier 1 behind the mobile arm, and Larsen hopes a cosy trip will make Risk Factor's initiation in to the c1 grade slightly easier.
''He's got a wee bit of quality about him,'' Larsen said.
''It's a big jump from maidens to c1s but he's always shown a little bit. He's probably unlucky not to win one before he did, so we're hoping he can just take that next step now.
''He's well within himself - [the fact] he just hasn't had a race for two or three weeks is the only problem.''
Risk Factor is on an upward curve, but the racing end may be near for Rockin Cullen, who starts from barrier 7 in the first heat of the Southland Golden Girls series.
''She's been getting on to her knees this year, which she wasn't doing last year, which has caused us quite a few headaches,'' Larsen said.
''Her form hasn't been as good for that reason. She's at that stage where she's got to step up or she'll be retired as a broodmare.''
Larsen found it hard to split Janet's Passion and Bootie Bromac in the 3yr-old fillies mobile pace (race 2).
Janet's Passion qualified well at her first attempt in February, but tailed off in her subsequent runs, forcing Larsen to give her a brief let-up.
''She's come back and she's trialled all right without setting the world on fire.''
He took the same path with Bootie Bromac whose form had dropped off, and he has also removed the pacifier from her gear.
''She's been pretty good this time in at the workouts. She hasn't drawn all that well though.''
Cayenne El (race 3) is ''not the worst maiden'', but will rely on some luck from his draw of two on the second row and Beau Cishlom (race 8) should kick on from his third placing at Forbury Park last week.
''He ended up sitting parked at Forbury and I thought he went a pretty good race - the trip the other day might help him.''
Uncle Ben (race 10) has had a disrupted autumn campaign, getting checked in the Southern Supremacy Stakes last month, losing all chance.
''He's not a bad wee horse on his day and he's a lot better than his form suggests.
''It's quite a good field, but he's got a bit of quality himself when he's right.''
Larsen's team kicks off the day with Franco Synergy and Chapel Lane in the maiden claiming race.
