Quick Time confirmed a start in the New Zealand St Leger with an impressive win at Riccarton on Saturday.

She ran out 2000m strongly on Saturday in a rating 80 event.

The St Leger is over 2500m at Trentham on March 14.

"Being by Zabeel suggests she will be ideally suited over more ground," Michael Pitman, her trainer, said.

He said he would consider starting Quick Time in the Cromwell Cup, the $20,000 open handicap over 2000m at Cromwell next Sunday, to keep her up to the mark.

It was the third win for Quick Time in six starts since she joined the Pitman stable.

She won a 2000m maiden first up at Waikouaiti on January 1.

She was placed once in eight starts for Matamata trainer Andrew Scott.

Pitman arranged her lease to a syndicate.

Darryl Bradley, who rode her on Saturday, has been offered the ride in the St Leger.

Pitman won the 1989 St Leger with Saveur, when the race was restricted to 3yr-olds.

It was opened to 4yr-olds in 1993 and the only 3yr-old to succeed in the interim was Sunray (2003).

The Pitman-trained Eel Win, who was beaten a long head in the $200,000 Otaki Stakes on Friday has the $75,000 Thompson Handicap at Trentham on March 14 as his next assignment. The stable will consign Coup Align and Borninthestates to Auckland tomorrow.

Coup Align, winner of six of his seven starts this season, is in the Darley Plate, a set weight event with penalties and allowances over 1200m.

He will carry 53kg.

Borninthestates is in the Nathans Memorial Handicap (2200m).

He has the New Zealand Stakes, the weight-for-age 2000m at Ellerslie on his programme a week later.

He will be on trial for a trip to Queensland in June.

Coup Anabaa, winner of two of his three starts for Pitman this season, is recovering from surgery to remove a bone spur from a knee.

The NZ Stakes is the next assignment for O'Reilly Rose, a dashing winner of the listed $75,000 Trac Stakes (2000m) on a heavy track at Matamata on Saturday.

• Kylie Williams was suspended until midnight on March 5 for careless riding at Riccarton on Saturday.

Williams defended the charge.

She was found to have tightened Bounty Blue, Vinodini and Anangel at the 1100m in race 4 when riding Makesmewonder.

Patrick Holmes was fined $300 for changing his vest after weighing our for The Take in race 10.
