Racing: Top-priced filly ready to race at Addington

Dancing Diamonds, the top-priced yearling filly last year at $110,000, has her first start at Addington tomorrow night.

The daughter of Bettor's Delight and Asabella, trained by Mark Purdon and Grant Payne, has won her two trials at Ashburton and Addington.

She will race in the ownership of Braeden and Caroline Whitelock, of Palmerston North and breeders Phil and Margaret Creighton, of East Taieri, after being bought by Purdon at the Premier Yearling Sale.

The Whitelocks raced Meredith Maguire from the Purdon-Payne stable.

Meredith Maguire was sold to North America after winning the Sires' Stakes Fillies Championship, a heat of the series at Forbury Park and a Sires' Stakes heat at Ashburton last season.

The Purdon-Payne stable also have Springsteen (American Ideal-Holm's Spirit) in the 2yr-old race tomorrow night.

He ran second to Lord Jowers in a trial at Ashburton and won a trial at Addington.

Lord Jowers, a $29,000 purchase at the Ready To Run sale last October, won at Invercargill last Thursday.

Purdon is listed to drive Springsteen and Blair Orange is behind Dancing Diamonds.

The connections of Samarias Bromac have opted to start in the $40,000 Premier Mares' Championship at Addington in preference to a lesser race for fillies and mares.

Samarias Bromac, trained by Robert Dunn, won a race for fillies and mares at Ascot Park on Thursday in a 1.57.1 mile rate for 1700m (mobile).

Bramley Town is now trained by his owner Warner Donald at Rangiora.

Winner of the 2008 Nelson Winter Cup, when trained by Andrew Stuart.

Bramley Town has not been successful since December, 2009.

Dexter Dunn faced a rare charge of careless driving at Wyndham on Tuesday.

He was fined $225 when he admitted attempting to improve Crush where there was insufficient room at the 300m.

Crush tangled.
