Racing: Venture proves a natural therapy

Jo Jules, a Christchurch natural healing therapist, has found her first thoroughbred racing venture rewarding.

She is the co-owner of Mercury Angel, who recorded her fourth win when successful at Oamaru on Friday.

Jules bred Mercury Angel and she races the 5yr-old Colombia-Golden Princess mare with a friend, Pete Polansky, of Auckland.

"I have always loved horses and I wanted to own a racehorse since I was a little girl," Jules said.

She leased the Kashani mare from Max Armstrong and selected Colombia as a stallion on his looks.

Golden Princess won four races from 12 starts when trained by Kevin Myers.

Mercury Angel is her second foal.

Mercury Girl was originally trained by Lisa Latta at Awapuni and won at her third start at Wanganui in November.

Mercury Girl was transferred to Shane Marr at Riccarton in June.

"She [Mercury Girl] was just too far away for me to see and Lisa recommended Shane," Jules said.
