Young (24) has racked up eight wins already this season, equalling her career-best set last season just 4 months into this term.
Young, who graduated from the University of Otago with a bachelor of pharmacy, is still mixing her passion - harness racing - and her future profession by working for Ladbrooks trainer Dean Taylor during the week, and keeping her hours up by working in a pharmacy every second Saturday.
Young deflected much of the praise for her tidy season so far to the horseflesh she has sat behind.
"It's quite a surprise, actually. I've had some really nice horses to drive this year, luckily enough."
One of those nice horses is Quick As A Trick, who provided Young with a Methven Green Mile win over Mossdale Conner earlier this month, despite racing keenly for much of the 1609m.
"When he was pulling down the back so hard, I didn't know much would be left at the finish, but he just kicked on again,'' Young said.
She will steer the son of Lis Mara again tonight in the c3-c6 2700m mobile pace.
The pair will start from the outside of the barrier arm, and midfield could be the spot for Young and the 5yr-old.
"If you save him for one run, he can show quite a bit of speed too like he did in the Waikouaiti Cup,'' she said.
"There should be a bit of speed in it with McCovey Cove, I suppose, but I'm assuming Bruce will want me to give him as nice a run as possible, as I think he's heading down to Tony [Barron] after that start."
A mistake-free run - let alone a nice run - could be enough for Articulight to be successful in race 5.
The Dean Taylor-trained pacer has ability in spades, but threw away a grand winning opportunity at Addington on Saturday, galloping with 300m to go when trailing eventual winner Idealindiamonds.
"He's got huge ability. The other night, I was sitting in behind Matt Anderson [the driver of Idealindiamonds] and I knew when I pulled out I was just going to blast past him.
"Even after working hard at the start, it doesn't seem to worry him. He seems to be able to do anything. When he works all his wee tricks out, he should be a really nice horse.''
The son of Art Official has a tendency to get his head on the side during the running, and Taylor has also added spreaders to his gear this week.
"They're on not too tight as he only does it when he gets his head round,'' she said.
"That's what he did at Addington. He got his head right round and just hit under his knee, and got in between his knee boot and his shin boot. We'll put them on with Forbury being a tighter track. He worked today and worked very good.''
Top Brass (race 9) has won twice at Forbury Park in the past, and Young rates the 6yr-old as a place chance, while barrier 7 does concern her with Live To Tell in the 1200m sprint series final.
Peruvian Lightning (race 2) is yet to impress in three starts to date.
