ABs XV dispatch England A

The All Blacks XV produced a polished effort to triumph over England A 31-14 in their second match of the United Kingdom and France tour, held in Bath.

Canterbury centre Brayden Ennor was named man of the match for a strong effort in the midfield.

He made a line break, nine tackles and nabbed two turnovers.

The All Blacks XV forced the hosts into a series of mistakes.

They coughed up a staggering 23 handling errors

The visitors' lineout was solid, with lock Jamie Hannah securing an early lineout steal.

A scrum penalty got the All Blacks XV into position to strike and they then executed a powerful maul inside the English 22.

David Havili and Hannah carried the ball with vigour before halfback Kyle Preston passed it to the right, allowing fullback Chay Fihaki to set up Highlanders winger Caleb Tangitau for the try.

England threatened to reply, but Ennor stole the ball, leading to a length-of-the-field attack capped off by a dynamic run from his Crusaders team-mate Sevu Reece and a brilliant finish from Hannah.

The All Blacks XV fumbled a kick in the 26th minute and were swiftly punished by lively Exeter Chiefs fullback Josh Hodge.

Highlanders halfback Folau Fakatava made an impact in the second half with a snappy play on the short side, which released Josh Jacomb.

The Taranaki first five converted from the left sideline, increasing the score to 19-7.

Highlanders loosie TK Howden played at lock, winning three lineouts and making nine tackles.

Devan Flanders soared on the blindside, winning seven lineouts and with skipper Dalton Papali’i trailing England’s Tom Pearson by just two tackles as the match’s leading tackler with 15, the trio proved to be overwhelming.

The All Blacks XV sealed their victory in the 64th minute when Rivez Reihana scored an 80-metre try that featured two skilful touches from Havili and a final pass from Jacomb.

Fakatava was rewarded for his energy with a try in the 76th minute, which also highlighted the skill of Otago No 8 Christian Lio-Willie, Howden, Tangitau and Reihana.

The All Blacks XV have now won six consecutive matches since 2023.
