Five questions for Upper Clutha captain Lachie Garrick.

1. Favourite rugby memory?

Winning the championship a second time round. Two years in a row. First time was special, but it’s always hard to get going and go even better the next year. We were slow to start but we ended up taking it home. That was pretty cool.

2. Hardest opponent?

We’ve always got a great rivalry with Wakatipu. It’s been tit for tat. You never know which way it’s going to go, and I love playing them.

3. What rugby player do you admire and why?

Brodie Retallick. The Guzzler. He’s just a hard-nosed man with a great winning attitude.

4. What do you do to relax?

I love getting outdoors. A bit of jet-boating, fishing and a beer or two.

5. If you’re cooking, what are we eating?

Let’s go for a ribeye with eggs on top, chips and coleslaw. Perfect.
