Kaikorai beat Dunedin 29-14 in a key game in the battle for the top four at Kettle Park today.

But the premier match was marred by two serious injuries. Dunedin prop Teague McElroy broke his leg in a sickening accident late in the match.

The game was shifted to the top field while medical staff attended to the player. His team-mate, centre Tumua Ioane, dislocated his elbow earlier in the game.

In the other matches Southern dispatched Zingari-Richmond 53-19 at Montecillo, University beat Harbour 30-7 at Logan Park and Taieri beat Green Island 34-12 at Miller Park.
