It was a thriller. A last second try to flanker Mika Mafi gave Green Island its first win of the season at Montecillo today.

Green Island beat Zingari-Richmond 24-21 to regain the Hellyer Memorial Trophy .

Green Island led 14-6 at the break but Zingari came back into the game with brilliant tries to Shaun Driver and Tom Rowe to lead 21-17 before the thrilling finish.

Elsewhere Louis Tili missed a last minute long range penalty that would have given Pirates its first win in seven games. They had to settle with a 5-all draw with Kaikorai at Bishopscourt.

Southern went on the rampage to score seven tries when University A was beaten 53-19 at Bathgate Park.

Taieri remain unbeaten after scoring four tries when it beat Harbour 27-14 at Peter Johnstone Park.

Results: Taieri 27, Harbour 14; Southern 53, University A 19; Green Island 24, Zingari-Richmond 21; Dunedin 21, Alhambra-Union 13; Kaikorai 5, Pirates 5.
