Rugby: Otago Boys' beats Christchurch counterpart

The Otago Boys' High School First XV retained its unbeaten record with a commanding 29-7 win in Christchurch yesterday.

Otago Boys' scored four tries when it beat Christchurch Boys' High School.

It was a significant win because it was Christchurch Boys' first loss of the season.

It had played 11 games in the Press Cup competition and had won 10 and drawn one.

The best player for Otago Boys' was Sio Tomkinson in the midfield, who kicked four goals.

Halfback Kadin Brocks impressed with his smart passing and accurate kicks to the box.

The best forward was lock Jarrell Pattison, who dominated the lineout and used his strength to score a try from a maul.

Loose forwards Jamie Mowat, Slade McDowall and Matt Heffernan were an efficient unit.

McDowall and prop Sione Asi scored tries after the forwards made ground with the pick and go.

The fourth Otago Boys' try came after an incisive break in the midfield by centre Hemaua Samasoni.

Otago Boys' led 22-0 at halftime.

Dunedin Television will screen the game tomorrow on its local programme.
