Traffic in the Christchurch suburb of Richmond was disrupted when a man walked into traffic and also stopped a bus.
Star News witnessed the man, aged probably in his late 20s, stumbling in and out of traffic on Stanmore Rd, near North Avon Rd about 3.30pm yesterday.
He was carrying a near-empty bottle.
At one stage, he narrowly avoided being hit by a car.
When he spotted a passing bus, he walked onto the road, bringing the bus to a halt, as he stood directly in front of it.
Traffic then backed up behind the bus.
He stood in front of the bus for about two minutes, then moved aside and continued along Stanmore Rd on the footpath.
At one stage, he stopped to urinate against a fence before crossing the road to sit at the bus stop opposite New World.
He was also seen pointing the bottle at passing motorists and shouting as he walked.
When he saw the Orbiter bus stopping on the other side of the road a few minutes later, he walked back across the road in front of traffic and boarded it.
A police spokesperson told Star News they were made aware of the incident and attended, but the person had left the area before their arrival.
