The driver of a car involved in a hit and run in the central city on Wednesday night remains at large.

A pedestrian was left with moderate injuries following the incident at the intersection of Fitzgerald Ave and Cashel St about 7pm.

A police spokesman said the driver fled the scene and it was unclear what make of car they were driving.

"Inquiries are ongoing. There are no updates at this stage."
