Armistice Day services planned

The 102nd anniversary of the end of World War 1 — at 11am on November 11, 1918 — will be marked in Dunedin next week.

The Armistice Day service of remembrance will be held next Wednesday, from 10.45am at the cenotaph in Queens Gardens.

The service will begin with a 25-pounder gun salute, and will be led by padre Aaron Knotts, with Colonel Roger McElwain giving the address.

All are welcome to attend and wreaths may be laid.

In addition, a service to remember all those who have given their lives serving their country will be held at HMNZS Toroa at 11am this Sunday, November 8 — the closest Sunday to Armistice Day/Remembrance Day.

The service will be led by padre Aaron Knotts, RNZIR, and will be attended by Chief of Navy Rear Admiral David Proctor, RNZN.
