The demonstration, to be held next Thursday, April 29, from 10am at Flagstaff Community Church hall, is part of the group’s regular efforts towards educating members. All are welcome to attend.
Wakari Art Group vice-president Marie Murphy said the group also held four in-house exhibitions each year, the first of which, featuring landscapes, was held earlier this month.
"We have a people’s choice award — everyone gets to vote for their favourite work," Ms Murphy said.
"It’s a nice way for us to have a chance to share and enjoy our work."
Founded more than 50 years ago by a local group of keen artists, the Wakari Art Group meets weekly at the church hall to paint together and hold workshops and mentoring.
Membership fluctuates a little, as members grow older and decide to retire from painting, but the group remains strong and committed to its love of art.
New members are welcome, for information phone Frances Sutherland on 454-3192.
