Tomorrow is Daffodil Day 2022, a day that symbolises hope for all New Zealanders impacted by cancer.
This year marks 32 years of Daffodil Day in New Zealand. That’s 32 years of our communities coming together to raise much-needed funds to support people facing cancer.
Daffodils have been symbolically linked to the fight against cancer for many years.
Daffodil Day is when we are reminded of the value the Cancer Society adds to the community, and it’s a day for everyone to support this vital cause.
Cancer Society Otago-Southland chief executive Rachael Hart said ‘‘after last year’s street appeal being cancelled, it will be lovely to see people proudly wear their daffodil pins in the community’’.
‘‘Every day, 71 New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer. Cancer doesn't stop; with your help, we won't either.
‘‘More New Zealanders will get cancer this year than ever before. No-one should face cancer alone.
‘‘We need your financial help again this year.”
Every dollar raised will help provide free support for people with cancer and their whanau, fund cancer research and deliver health promotion activities to reduce cancer risk for future generations.
Every day the Cancer Society provides expert information services, counselling, nutritious meals, accommodation near hospitals, transport to treatment and much more.
Your donation helps fund these cancer support services for people in our community, providing practical and meaningful assistance during some of the most challenging times in their lives.
Your donation also helps to reduce the incidence of cancer. The Cancer Society’s Health Promotion Team leads positive change through innovative projects to reduce smoking and vaping, reduce alcohol consumption, and deliver Sun-Smart Education programmes in the community.
ANZ has been a significant sponsor of Daffodil Day since 1990 and, in that time, has raised almost $20 million to support the Cancer Society's important work.
Each year ANZ staff get involved in fundraising activities that fund services and help New Zealanders with cancer.
One in three New Zealanders are affected by cancer. Be proud that you are making a difference to those that matter most and are closest to you.
A donation of $24 helps to provide transport to and from cancer treatment, $58 helps fund counselling for people affected by cancer, $107 helps provide accommodation for those travelling for treatment, and $150 contributes to research that improves prevention.
Your donation makes a difference to those impacted by cancer, so please give generously.
