Two new podcast series have been included in a resource to support safe and positive online experiences.

Netsafe’s free Digital Guardian Guide has been designed to help parents, caregivers and whānau navigate digital life with young people. It includes practical parenting advice, conversation starters, easy-to-understand guidance and support for common online challenges.

The podcasts, produced in partnership with Oar FM, have been integrated into the guide and can also be accessed as a stand-alone resource.

Digital Guardian Podcast is a parent-focused series exploring what it means to support young people growing up in a digital world.

Through expert insights, real-life experiences and practical guidance, each episode unpacks the challenges and opportunities families face online — from social media and

screen time to online harm, wellbeing, and emerging technologies like AI.

“The Screen From Our Side” series was created by young people in Dunedin.

They reflect on the opportunities and challenges of being constantly connected: finding community, navigating pressure and comparison, and making sense of a rapidly changing digital landscape.

Young contributors speak candidly about what adults often misunderstand, what needs to change, and how to build safer, more supportive online spaces.

Digital Guardian Podcast and “The Screen From Our Side” are available from oar.org.nz and other major podcast platforms.
