The 17-year-old is chairwoman of the school council, a Student Social Committee member, chairwoman of the Police Blue Light Disco organising committee and a member of the Waitaki District Youth Council.
On the sporting field, Erin excels in football.
She has won the school's Most Promising Football Player Award for the past two years, she is captain of the First XI football team and was captain of the North Otago Girls U18 football team last year.
Erin says her project and people management skills have come to the fore in her new-found passion for film-making.
"It's been a big learning curve. Making a film has taught me how to use other people's strengths to create the strongest team and the best possible outcome."
As a result, her film-making team received a highly commended award in this year's Freemasons' Big Science DVD Competition.
While bouncing between sporting and school commitments, Erin works a part-time job at Countdown - sometimes at the expense of time with family and friends.
"My parents are constantly complaining that I'm never home. But it's a sacrifice I have to make - I feel I have to take the opportunities as they come up."
Erin plans to study chemistry next year and ultimately hopes to become a secondary school science teacher.
