South Otago will host the New Zealand Ploughing Championships for the first time in 2011.
The Wairuna property, near Clinton, belonging to farmer Andrew Taylor, will be the venue for the two-day competition, to be held on April 8 and 9 that year.
South Otago Ploughing Association member Johnny Watt said a recent meeting agreed to push ahead with plans to host the championships.
Ploughs, vintage machinery, horse-drawn ploughs and modern machinery will all feature at the championships that will determine the best ploughman in the country.
More details would be released once the planning committee had confirmed more information, Mr Watt said.
Timaru hosted the national championships this year, while the 2010 event, which will also double as the world ploughing final, will be held in Methven.
