Ngai Tahu Holdings Group chief executive Greg Campbell has been appointed chief executive of fertiliser company Ravensdown.

He will replace Rodney Green when Mr Green retires on December 31 after nearly 16 years in the job.

Mr Campbell, who has experience in infrastructure, petroleum, rural and waste management, will be based in the company's head office in Christchurch, leading a team of 684 employees in New Zealand and Australia.

Ravensdown chairman Bill McLeod thanked Mr Green, acknowledging his years of work and stewardship growing and strengthening the company.

The position attracted candidates from around the world.

The board selected Mr Campbell because of his international chief executive experience and the more recent role he had played in making Ngai Tahu a successful and vibrant business, Mr McLeod said.
