An investigation has been launched after a person turned up at Timaru Hospital with what appeared to be stab wounds from a pocket knife.

Police received a call from the hospital about 10pm on Monday when the injured person arrived.

They “presented with wounds consistent with being stabbed”, police said.

The incident followed an alleged assault earlier in the night on Peel St in Geraldine.

The victim of the alleged stabbing has been released from hospital.
