CD Reviews: Bombay Bicycle Club

North London band the Bombay Bicycle Club has all but shed the skin it was born in: the one-time indie-rock guitar outfit now presents as an electronic-pop group with arty leanings for its fourth studio album.

Trouble is, no amount of whizz-bang layering and looping of synths, drums and field recordings can create the soul of this new identity, and what's missing here among these gleaming and superficially complex tracks is exactly that - a soul.

Luna comes closest to something evocative, but opening track Overdone knowingly points to the shortcomings of the bulk of the material.
