September 2012 welcomes the New Zealand arrival of a defining name of 1980s British punk rock: Subhumans.

On the band's first Australasian tour, the original 1981 line-up of Dick, Trotsky, Bruce and Phil who recorded the group's debut EP Demolition War in 1981 and classic albums such as The Day The Country Died as an integral part of the UK anarcho-punk scene, will play the Dunedin Musicians Club on September 19.

• Sea Otago is hosting the 8th annual Organic Festival.

This night brings all things organic in Dunedin together under one roof, so go along and celebrate everything organic with beer, wine, food, community groups and music.

Music from Mama Yeva, Astro Children, Summer Thieves, Skull Dubbery, Oleh and DJ Chris.

Tickets are $5 on the door. Each $5 ticket purchased will include one free organic beer or glass of wine (limited to the first 300 tickets).

• Bill Morris is a songwriter based in Port Chalmers. He grew up in the South Island high country and has travelled widely as a musician, film-maker and writer. His music is drawn from the stories of the land and sea; the poetry of the landscape and the lives it holds.

Bill's songs are folk songs with a distinct New Zealand voice.

His music is influenced by everything from punk to reggae.

Some of his songs are rock 'n' roll stompers, while others are haunting country ballads. Bill celebrates the release of debut album Mud (recorded with Robert Scott, Rob Falconer and several other prominent Dunedin musicians and reviewed below) tonight at Chick's Hotel with his band the Mark IV's.

• Amped, the renamed Chick's Project youth-mentoring programme, unveils a new group of high school acts tonight at the Dunedin Musicians Club.

The music-mentoring series, supported by Alac and the Dunedin Fringe Arts Trust, runs all-age gigs twice a month as well as regular mentoring workshops on various aspects of music, performance, or sound.

With former participants A Distant City and Astro Children taking the top spots at the University of Otago Battle of the Bands, Amped is the best way to keep an eye on Dunedin's emerging talents.
