AFTER gaining a huge response on social media, Jones Motoring had around 450 people turn out when they gave away a Suzuki Swift on January 13.
The promotion, which had reached over 100,000 people online, culminated when Dunedin resident Kerri-Lee Smith was handed over the keys for the $8000 vehicle.
Jones Motoring owner Josh Jones said the best part of the promotion for him was Smith’s reaction when she won. The Suzuki Swift would be a huge help for her, and would mean she and her son would no longer have to rely on buses.
The giveaway promotion was launched on the Jones Motoring Facebook page in late November, and within weeks it had been seen by around 70,000 people. Its reach grew into six figures despite the disruption of the festive season.
To be in to win, contestants had to like and comment on the Facebook post, register online, and show up at the lot on the day of the draw.
Smith wasn’t the only winner in the crowd at the company’s new yard on January 13, with 11 spot prizes also given away.
The promotion has proven extremely successful for Jones Motoring , who are now located at a larger yard at 577 Kaikorai Valley Rd.
