A huge congratulations to Registered Nurse Dana Smith, who has been named Runner Up for the NZNO Young Nurse of the Year Award.

The award recognises a commitment to and passion for nursing which goes beyond the everyday expectations of a nurse.

Dana was nominated for the accolade by Southern DHB Charge Nurse Manager Merrilee Williams for her outstanding work in the Gastroenterology Department.

“Through a combination of Dana’s Bachelor of Nursing, postgraduate education, life experience and passion for supporting others with [Crohn’s disease], she is in the most fortunate position to be able to apply an excellence to her nursing career that many others cannot. It is Dana’s desire to care, educate and facilitate the best possible care for others that make her invaluable, and instrumental in our specialty of nursing.”
