MUSEUM OF BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS SUBMISSIONS CLOSE 1 NOVEMBER Museum of Broken Relationships is open for submissions for its next community-sourced exhibition right here in Dunedin! Otago Museum is coordinating the collection of objects for this highly anticipated exhibition and would love to hear from you. What is the Museum of Broken Relationships? At its core, the Museum of Broken Relationships is an ever-growing, community-built collection of objects donated by individuals from all over the world, each one a symbolic memento of a broken relationship, accompanied by the anonymous story of its donor. With the worldwide collection now numbering around 2800 objects and stories, the Museum of Broken Relationships has become a treasury of emotional heritage, an ultimate shrine to the deep human desire to love and connect, despite the apparent complexities, differences, and conflicts that seem to define our world.
I have an idea of what I would like to submit. What do I need to do? For a submission we only need two things from you. An object and a story. Easy as that!
Mad divorce-day dwarf 20 years Ljubljana, Slovenia Garden dwarf. On the day of our divorce he arrived in a new car. Arrogant and heartless. The dwarf was closing the gate that he had destroyed some time ago. At that moment, it flew to the windscreen of the new car, rebounded and landed on the asphalt. Its long trajectory drew an arc of time – and this short long arc defined the end of love.
Museum of Broken Relationships Submissions open until 1 November 2019 Exhibition open from 21 December 2019 – 15 March 2020 If you have any questions, please contact us at brokenrelationships@otagomuseum.nz |
