Hodgson expects bigger majority

Sitting Dunedin North MP Pete Hodgson expects his majority to increase slightly once all the votes are counted.

At 10.10pm, Mr Hodgson had 14,505 votes, a majority of 6214 over National's Michael Woodhouse.

The story of the night in Dunedin North was the Greens gaining ground in the party vote, but Mr Hodgson said he wasn't too worried about that.

Nationally, he said much would depend on the Maori Party.
