High Tide has won the Dunedin regional section of the 11th Monteith's Beer and Wild Food Challenge, with Barakah Bar and Tapas winning the informal category.
The Queenstown/Central Otago winner will be announced tomorrow evening.
The winners in each region go on to compete for the national title, which will be announced on October 6.
One hundred and twenty restaurants around the country competed in the challenge, which ran from July 20 to August 10 in the South Island and a week earlier in the North Island.
Each matched beer with an innovative "wild" dish.
High Tide's winning dishes were "Feral Feed", a wild game terrine with a slow-cooked rabbit leg and quince tarte tatin matched with Monteith's Golden, and "Bush Boil Up", roast venison, malted yams, toasted macadamia nuts, broth and a boil up of bones and greens, matched with Monteith's Black.
Barakah Bar and Tapas' winning dish was "Eel Be Right, Don't Be Shellfish, Paua to the People", potted eel and pickled paua with rewena bread crostini and shellfish tagine, matched with Monteith's Radler.
