The Gasworks Museum is not just about amazing old steam engines smoothly pumping with just the faintest hiss.

There's another story to be told about cooking with gas.

Jasmine Taylor and Kirsten Hutton are keen to hear stories of how people used gas, their appliances and the recipes they made, and other stories about kitchens in the old days.

At the next Gasworks Museum's regular open day on Sunday, July 18, from noon-4pm (20 Braemar St, South Dunedin, ph 455-5063), Jasmine and Kirsten will be cooking pikelets on one of the old gas stoves, serving cups of tea and other old-fashioned baking, while reminiscing over cooking with gas in days gone by.

Come and share your stories.
