What was the best birthday present you ever received, and why?
For my 21st birthday my Dad produced an absolute gem - the newspaper from the day I was born. It was crazy to flick through and see what was relevant in 1995, especially house prices.
If you were going to an island and could only take three things, what would they be and why?
A surf board; one of the best ways to enjoy Mother Nature's finest. Golf clubs; it can be the game that delivers you great reward or much anguish. A chilly bin; no matter what your day, a cold beer will help.
What is your message?
The water is our playground, so enjoy it. But make sure you enjoy this summer by being safe in the water. Always assess the conditions, know your limits and don't swim alone. If you are at a patrolled beach go up and have a chat with the lifeguards. Not only are they good buggers, but they will have some great advice for you.
What's something only your family knows about you?
How to wind me up. My Mum and Dad take great pleasure in it, especially when we have guests around.

The colour that captures the sun rising over a clean wave St Clair Beach.
