A couple of Scottish Borders villagers gained international status at Dunedin Fringe Festival last night.

Les Morss and Tim Wilcock had their international premier of their show The Two Moronnies and Tom Morss at Festival Club.

The two entertainers are from Carlops, a small village in the Pentland Hills, within the Scottish Borders.

‘‘The last time we did a show in Carlops, everybody said ‘why don't you take this show to New Zealand?' - it was that good,'' said Morss.

‘‘They wanted us to take it somewhere far, far away,'' laughed Wilcock.

In the show, the duo sing witty lyrics to familiar tunes by English artists including Flanders and Swann, Ian Dury and the Blockheads, Noel Coward, Queen and The Wurzels.

In the lyrics, presidential wannabe Donald Trump gets a dose of political satire, with the nursery rhyme Nellie the Elephant becoming Donald the Affluent.

London Mayor Boris Johnson and some New Zealand politicians are also on the receiving end.

‘‘The emphasis is on humour to give people a really good fun, relaxing evening to forget your worries ... and if there is only one person there and they have a really good time, then it has been worth it,'' Mr Wilcock said before the performance.

‘‘It's worth it if nobody is there because we can still put ‘The International Two Moronnies' on all our future advertising,'' Mr Morss said.

● The comedy The Two Moronnies and Tom Morss is on tonight and tomorrow at Festival Club.
