Turning 10 years old on the 10th of the 10th, 2010, is a good tongue-twister but saying it is no problem for a group of Otago children who celebrate their birthdays tomorrow.

This week, the Otago Daily Times tracked down seven children born on October 10, 2000.

Six were born at Queen Mary Maternity Centre at Dunedin Hospital. They were among 13 babies born at the centre on that date .

The children were excited about their birthdays and thought turning 10 on a day with such a date was quite special.

While how much significance the date had was debated, Jackie McLaughlan, mother of Sarah, had heard it was a lucky date.

"We're going to go out and buy a Lotto ticket tomorrow."

For Tyler Wilden's family, the birthdate comes in handy, as it is easy to remember. Making it even more significant is that he shares it with his best friend, Jakob Willsman.

Rhiannon Johnston was born at Oamaru Hospital with only half an hour to spare before she would have had a different birth date.

"She'll never forget how old she is," said her mother, Heather Johnston.
