One person has been seriously injured after a four-wheel-drive flipped on its side after a crash in Dunedin.

A police spokeswoman said emergency services were called to reports of a vehicle colliding with a parked car at the intersection of Kaikorai Valley Rd and Mellor St about 3pm today.

A photographer at the scene said emergency services worked to free a woman trapped in a car involved in the crash.

The 4WD ended up on its side against a house.

A St John spokesman said one person was taken to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
