About 300 people have recently visited a joint photographic exhibition at the Beverly Begg Observatory, which celebrates the Dunedin Astronomical Society's centenary this year.
Society president Peter Jaquiery said visitors had responded positively to high-quality photographs of heavenly bodies in the show, which also includes images linked to the society's history.
Last week, the free exhibition was open during the day, as well as in the evening.
Many visitors had been surprised and delighted that they could also gain good views of the planet Venus in daylight, through the observatory's main telescope, Mr Jaquiery said.
The exhibition, at Robin Hood Park, can be seen this week from 7pm to 9pm daily until Friday, organisers said.
