An art auction is being held in Dunedin tonight to put more young voices on the air.

The Otago Access Radio fundraising auction, at the Dunedin Community Gallery, will fund development of a new weekday youth show, created by school-age producers and presenters.

''We want to start a new programme for primary and secondary school kids between 4pm and 5pm on weekdays,'' OAR station manager Lesley Paris said yesterday.

''This will, hopefully, raise enough funds so we can develop new shows and train young programme-makers in studio operations.''

Contributing artists include Anni Watkins, Pauline Bellamy, Emma Milburn, Ewan McDougall, the late Lindsay Crooks, Janet Weir, Robert Scott, Emma Chalmers, David Corballis, Gay Webb, Janet de Wagt, Simon Kaan, Heather Dunkley and Manu Berry.

The artworks will be sold by auctioneer Warwick Grimmer from 6pm today and will remain on display in the gallery until Saturday.
