The Dunedin City Slickers are among top city brass bands playing in the Dunedin Botanic Gardens this summer.

Between November and May, the Dunedin City Slickers and four other brass bands are performing at free public concerts at the Dunedin Botanic Garden band rotunda on Sunday afternoons.

Last Sunday, inclement weather reduced the crowd to a hardy handful but the experienced bandsmen still delivered a slick and lively concert.

Other bands performing on a weekly rotation at the 1pm to 2.30pm Sunday Bandstand events are the Salvation Army Brass Band, the Kaikorai Metropolitan Brass Band, the Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra and the Mosgiel Brass Band.

On four Sunday afternoons between now and the start of May, the rotunda will be used for other events.

There will be a blues-themed music day on February 1, the Lions Lark in the Park on February 15, a reggae day on March 22 and a jazz day on May 3.

Because of the Santa Parade, there will be no performance this Sunday.

There will be no performances during January.
