Burden in running for venue executive award

The man about to step down from running Forsyth Barr stadium to work for the opposition, is in the running for New Zealand venue executive of the year.

Dunedin Venues Management Ltd chief executive Darren Burden is a finalist in the 2013 Entertainment Venues Association of New Zealand Awards.

The stadium itself is also a finalist, in the large venue of the year category, while stadium operations manager Coryn Huddy is a finalist in the operational manager of the year category.

Mr Burden announced his resignation earlier this month, to take up a position heading up the company that runs major Christchurch venues, potentially including a new indoor stadium.
