Cordons are in place on a Dunedin street while armed police work to locate a person of interest. 

A police spokeswoman said police were in the Dovecote Ave, Corstorphine area working to locate a person of interest.

The incident was ongoing, she said. 

A witness at the scene said police were yelling “put it down right now” at someone inside the Dovecote Ave address. 

Police also told the person of interest to “come outside”, however the person did not heed their calls. 

The incident appeared to begin at about 11.20am.

Eventually a woman, who was not who police were looking for, left the property with a bulldog. 

Multiple police cars, armed police, and police dogs were at the scene.

After an hour, police set up a cordon and asked everyone to leave the area, the witness said.
